  It was our 6th winter on the Grand Strand, four of which have been at Lakewood Camping Resort, and we were eager for a respite from a tumultuous December in our hometown in Wisconsin. My wife of 58+ years had just had a medical emergency and was now in the sorority of female heart patients. We knew we needed a quiet, gentle place to start the healing process. We knew Lakewood was it. Susan, through a series of miraculous communications, was able to complete her cardiac rehab with Tidelands Medical. We were cared for by a number of Christian friends at Lakewood and the Ministry team of Evan Hucks and Kevin Morris brought us through these tough days with their kindness, their personal care, and a strong presentation of living faith in our Living Lord Jesus Christ. We both “healed” and we’re able to try to contribute to the atmosphere of Christian joy and love that can be felt on the Lakewood campus, for those who seek it. For us, year by year, Lakewood remains both a wonderful vacation and a spiritual retreat.

  The property needed some general maintenance which i reported to LCR when I check out but overall the location was great and the stay was comfortable. But the couch was not very comfortable for two people to sit and watch a movie on a rainy night. The place is small but OK for two adults.

  Lakewood campground is a wonderful place for a family vacation. Our rental wasn’t clean when we arrived. There was trash and dirt on the floor and couch. The rental was in a great location but needed cleaned. There is only a loveseat in the living room, a couch would have been nicer to have a place to sit. Also the tv didn’t work in the living room. But overall we will be back at Lakewood again next year but we are renting a different rental.

  This was our first time visiting Lakewood. We had a great stay at Lakewood. The atmosphere was great and the amenities were many. I did noticed a few things in our rental and area that could use improvements. Our rental was satisfactory but they should have swept the deck off which was covered in pine needles and limbs. Also, the back of the rental facing the lake needed pressure washed. The rental was clean but needed a deep clean on the floor which left our feet black when walking barefoot. Also, the sliding glass door was coming apart and the lock fell off while we were there-maintenance did fix the lock. The lines and wait for ice cream and coffee were also very long, one night our family waited in line an hour for ice cream. As I mentioned, our stay was great but a few improvements could be made for the money we paid. We will be returning regardless just my observations.

  This VR was a nice place to stay. It was very clean with a well-stocked kitchen, comfortable beds and a spacious kitchen/living room area. We liked the open deck facing Crater Lake and the nice deck table and chairs.

  We really enjoyed the place, but were disappointed that we weren't made aware that several things weren't open - water park, ice cream shop and food at the main trader station. Also, they were doing construction on the lake in front of our place. I completely understand this type of work needs to be done, but we were never even made aware of it when booking. We did ask to be on the street where we were located, but might have made a different selection if we had been made aware of the construction. The pylons that were being mounted into the lake less than 6 feet from our porch rocked the entire place starting at 8 in the morning. I would highly recommend letting your renters know about the potential for close construction and offer different accommodations when available. There were several other units open the week we were there. However, I will say that the unit we stayed in was very clean and nice. It was a good fit for our family for the time that we were going to be down there. We will be back, but will be sure to ask more questions prior to arriving.

  We loved the ramp and the porch was very private. I had rather had a table and chairs on floor to eat on as too difficult for me to get the chairs off the wall. We would have liked a comfortable chair in living room as we only had a sofa.We moved two chairs in from porch to sit in. The sofa was a love seat so not much sitting room. We ate our meals in our lap as my husband could not help me with table and chairs. We needed a bar in shower to hold on and a mat as floor got slick when soapy. Beds were very hard as we needed a thick mattress cover. I would bring my own next time.We might even consider sleeping separately as beds were double and crowded for us. We loved the location but not enough storage for clothes as we were there two weeks. If we owned it we would definitely make the porch into a room. It is so private and nice. We enjoyed the location and people were so nice to help us. The house was very clean. New paint and wall cabinet in bathrooms for anything I had to buy a soap tray and put my bath toiletries in closet in hall. These are things that could be fixed but we would stay again because of ramp and location. It was clean and it had enough dishes and pots and pans for cooking. There are things that we now know to bring to make our stay more comfortable but it is great for my husband as he cannot get around without a rollater and it was just enough room. He had to park it before he went down hall for bed but held onto wall, door and bed. Can’t everything be perfect when you are handicapped. We enjoyed our time there.

  The villa was nice enough but the electrical in the living room didn’t work, the switch was torn up. Also the AC didn’t work as well compared to other villas. The temp was set to 68, it got up to 82 during the day and stayed around 75 at night. Maintenance was notified of both problems two days in a row. A person came to the villa the first day, said he’d send someone else over and nothing else was ever heard. The second time nobody showed up when called. After that I didn’t bother calling anymore because it was still livable and frankly I didn’t feel like I should have to call multiple times while I’m trying to enjoy my vacation. Everything else was great! The villa was a little outdated but nothing that couldn’t be overlooked. The best part that made the money worth it was the shade on the porch and the location of the villa being on crater lake. Will definitely be back! Just hope for better maintenance help if needed next time.

  Good vacation. Good location and unit. 2885 could use many renovations. The unit was clean, but was also in some disrepair. Examples would be the thresholds on the bathroom doors came up and had exposed nails. We called about this and no one came to fix it. The two left eyes of the stove did not work. The tv in the master bedroom had no chord and was therefore useless. There were mouse droppings in the cabinets, which caused us to wash our dishes extra well, which we would have done anyway. But that could use extra cleaning. We were upset to realize we could not fish or even access crater lake from our unit as is suggested upon rental. It is fenced off for some reason. Other than that, it was a good unit and stay.
